How to play Originle

The Originle game in six short, clear moves. Then open originle.io and meet today’s guest on the official site. Come back here for the titles, the archive, or the score.

  1. 01

    Watch first

Open originle.io and watch the first clip. One look is enough to guess. Controls hide while the guest speaks; tap the picture to bring them back.

  2. 02

    Where am I from

Guess the country in their roots and culture — where am I from, not the place they live now. Many guests are part of a diaspora, so an accent can point somewhere else.

  3. 03

    Eight clues

Eight clues wait if you want them, and each later clip is easier. You do not have to open them all to play Originle. A food, a birthplace, or a neighbour may give more away.

  4. 04

    Three guesses

You have three guesses. A correct country ends the round. So does the third miss, or giving up. You may lock a guess after the first clip.

  5. 05

    Out of 10,000

Name home on the first look and the Originle game is worth 10,000. Each later clue costs more than the one before it. A miss keeps seventy percent of what is left.

  6. 06

    The globe

On originle.io the globe is a scratchpad. A pinned flag is a hunch, not a guess. You can still change your mind before you lock it and spend the round.

FAQ

Questions about Originle

What is the Originle game?

Originle is the original game online: one real person facing the camera, not a word box or a blank map. If you want original games to play, the run cannot be grinded — tomorrow is always a new face. The guests are never actors performing a nationality.

What makes Originle different from other original games to play?

Most daily puzzles give you a word, a grid, or a map with no one in it. Originle gives you a person. The clue is a human being showing the small, specific things that place an origin, so no two rounds feel the same and the answer always has a face behind it. There is one guest a day, then it is over until midnight.

What does this companion page add?

This is an unofficial companion to the original game website. It keeps today’s clue titles, the archive, and a score calculator. Each past day also lists hints and the five nearest borders, so you can read a round after you play it. It does not rehost the eight videos or replace originle.io.

Where do I play Originle?

On originle.io. Open that tab, watch the clip, and come back here for titles, past days, and the calculator. This page never stands in for the official site.

How does scoring work in the Originle game?

From puzzle 3, a first-look solve is 10,000. The next clues cost 250, then 500, 750, 1,000, 1,250, 1,500, and 1,750. A miss keeps seventy percent of what is left, rounded to the nearest 10. After three misses, closeness from your nearest country is capped at 1,000, from a border-to-border formula. Any solve beats any miss; giving up with no guess is zero. No. 001 and No. 002 keep the older costs: about 1,000 a clue, and a miss costs a flat 500.

Is Originle a casino?

No. Some searches say original game casino, but Originle is not that — there is no table, no deposit, and nothing to win or lose. The only number that moves is a score out of 10,000.

How do I film a clip and become a guest?

Originle films real people and pays twenty-five dollars if your clip is selected. You are not making a commercial. Show the small things that place your origin: a dish from home, a word you still use, a holiday that does not match the calendar where you live. Write to [email protected] with a short note about what you would show. The decision sits with the people who make Originle, not with this companion. Filming your own Originle clip is the best part of the whole game: for one day you become the guest, and players everywhere spend a full round asking where am I from while they watch you. The clips that get picked are honest and specific, never a performance of a nationality, so pick the one detail only someone from home would notice.

Why is it spelled Originle, not originale or origin?

The English name is Originle. People type originale or originale game because the word looks like the Italian or French for original, and some search origin game meaning the old launcher. The origin of the spelling is a small daily puzzle, not a translation or a brand of originale. Near-misses like originel, originile, originle game, originle io, originddle, origindle, orignle, oringle and orginle all still lead to the same Originle game.

Can I read a past guest?

Yes. The official site shows today’s person. This archive keeps every released guest with clue titles, hints, and the five nearest borders, so you can read what a past round was pointing at after the day has moved on.

When is midnight, exactly?

The countdown on this page uses America/New_York, the same switch the official game uses. That is 04:00 UTC during Eastern Daylight Time and 05:00 UTC during Eastern Standard Time. If your local clock and the page disagree, trust Eastern.
